Carbon Nanotubes

The width of a human hair is extremely small.  However, the width of a carbon nanotube is even smaller.  The amazing thing is that carbon nanotubes create some of the strongest and lightest materials on earth.  It’s not that one strand is so strong, but after being tightly wound, like rope, the nanotubes are extremely strong.

Carbon Nanotube Uses

An elevator that goes into space and based in the ocean is one of the proposed uses of nanotubes.  Car bodies that are very light and strong are also a strong contender.  Some of the popular uses are for golf clubs, tennis rackets, and other sporting goods.  Any product that is better if lighter and stronger is a good contender for using carbon nanotubes.
