Dark Matter

If you look at a galaxy and try to account for its gravitational pull, you will find that the pull is much greater than you thought.  Through observation of gravitational fields we must conclude that there is a lot of matter out there that we can see.  In fact, we estimate that 99% of the matter, in space, we are not seeing.  This “invisible” matter is called dark matter.  This dark matter makes up the majority of the universe.

Scientists have created huge collecting plates for dark matter.  Some of these facilities are huge and underground.  They are shaped like large satellite dishes.  The goal is to organize and try to understand dark matter.  Recently, a lab in California created a tiny piece of dark matter.
