Flash Drive TechnologyIntel and Micron have bet billions on the idea that flash will be a big thing. The idea is that flash will eventually replace all computer hard drives in the world.Currently the Micron and Intel joint venture is losing a lot of money. Foreign suppliers dump flash for almost nothing. However, these companies are sticking it out while losing massive cash. Why? They believe strongly that flash has a bright future. Imagine your computer turning on instantly. There will be no boot up time. It will be on or off in an instant. Flash technology promises smaller drives that can store more and do it better and faster. That’s a big thing. The laptop for every child project will probably rely a lot on flash technology. If billions of laptops are distributed and all new computers come with flash drives, you can see that flash is going to be big for storage. The other thing is that flash is now wireless. You can take pictures on your camera and the flash cartridge can automatically put them on your computer for you. This means flash will be big for virtually any device like cell phones and personal planners. Flash will soon be in cell phones and connecting us to our homes and others in a much more rich way. |
