Future Nanotechnology

One of the largest technological shifts that will be seen in the future is with nanotechnology.  Nanotechnology is the science of creating things from the ground up; atom by atom.  It has been made possible by advances in microscopic technology.

Human Body

A microscopic view of the human body reveals many tiny complex machines working together to create the whole.  These machines self replicate and repair themselves.  Some people think this is the future of nanotechnology.

The Blood Stream

Have a disease?  A popular notion in science is to send tiny robots into the bloodstream to repair heart disease, cancer, and whatever ails you.  We are not talking about beer.

Current Uses

Currently, nanotechnology is in its infancy.  They applications have been for industrial projects and for items like the Ipod, carbon nano tubes, and sports equipment.  Further research is necessary to crate self replicating machines.
