Human Cloning
Would you like a copy of yourself walking around? Technology for human cloning is here, but few tests have been done because of ethical concerns. It has even been banned in varying degrees in many states. It is clear that the Federal U.S. government is not behind cloning. Due to this fact, cloning technology will probably take root in another country.
Promise of Cloning
Most people aren’t looking for a new pet or another spouse through cloning. The main perceived benefit is for human longevity. For example, if you could clone a new heart, liver, kidney, etc. The human lifespan could extend far into the future and the quality of life could be improved.
Ethics
People aren’t comfortable with the idea of cloning. The idea of using embryos for research is also considered abortion by many people. However, the benefits are so tempting that the technology will probably continue to grow over time.
Cloned People
There are none reported. However, the technology has been around long enough that it is likely that there is a person that has been cloned. Some people have claimed this, but nobody has offered real scientific evidence.
