Invisibility Cloak

You might have thought it was just fiction when you read about the invisibility cloak in Harry Potter.  The exciting thing is that scientists have developed that very thing.

How Does it Work?

What makes us see things?  Our eyes follow the path of light.  The light may be slightly bent or curved.  Whatever the item the light lands on we see.  What happens with an invisibility cloak?  With the cloak, light is refracted and bent in unnatural ways.  The light bends around the cloak.  The end result is that you see around the cloak.

The technology needs a few years to work out the kinks.  Invisibility is produced using nanotechnology and three dimensional carbon nanotubes to make fabric.
