New Medical TechnologyDNA ChipsDNA chips will have the ability to be put into tissue. They will be able to read back what the disease is exactly.Today, we are treating people as a species, instead of as unique life forms. We may treat a condition such as heart disease in similar fashion across patients. The DNA chip will make it possible to have much more information about the person and the disease. Then, we will be able to treat people in a much less harmful and more powerful way. TroubleshootingThe blend of silicon and biology will allow us to anticipate diseases and catch them at much earlier stages. We will be able to live with chips embedded inside of us that will tell us if a disease is developing and what our health state is.For example, think of a chip that monitors your heart rate, cholesterol, and pretty much everything in your body. If something starts to get out of control, you will know immediately. Genetic DrugsSome drugs will be part human, part mouse, and who knows. One drug, ReoPro, a clot busting drug was half mouse and half human. In the future, you can expect drugs to incorporate animal and plant information within a single DNA structure. |
